Configuring TurboGopher

TurboGopher is a freeware program that lets users who need to navigate UNIX systems but are uncomfortable using UNIX "in the raw" access many UNIX systems by menu.

TurboGopher requires System 7.0 or later. Both the Thread Manager extension and MacTCP must be installed on your Mac. If you are running System 7.5 or later, Thread Manager is built-in. If you are running a pre-7.5 system, you need to install the Thread Manager extension:

• 1.Open your System Folder. Double-click on your System Folder icon.
• 2.Locate the Thread Manager extension. Open the TurboGopher folder by double-clicking on it. Double-click the Extra Stuff folder. You should see the Thread Manager extension.
• 3.Drag the Thread Manager extension onto your Extensions folder.
• 4.Reboot your computer.

  TurboGopher comes pre-configured for use with the University of Minnesota system. Full instructions on how to use TurboGopher are available on that system when you log on.
